The Truth About Penis Enlargement Surgery

Is It For You?

Surgery offers an expensive but a permanent solution for enlargement
of the penis. Through surgery, the penis can be visually enlarged,
usually by just over an inch. The surgeon will cut the ligaments that
hold the penis in its usual position and this allows the penis to
descend. Weights, or stretching devices, are then used for a few months
to effect a permanent increase in size. The procedure may result in
scar tissue, the erection will point down, and the base of the penis
will be hairy.

Current surgical technique cannot actually lengthen the corporal bodies
of the penis. This is because the core of the penis consists of a matrix
of smooth muscle and vasculature surrounded by a tough elastic envelope.
These corporal bodies are actually complicated or intricate
vascular organs that expand and lengthen the vessels and sinuses
filling them with blood during an erection. There is no known surgical
material that can actually lengthen these corporal bodies. However,
surgery can reposition the corporal bodies such that the penis may
“appear” longer than its flaccid state.

The Procedure:

It is performed under light general anesthesia. Surgery actually involves
two separate procedures. In the lengthening procedure, the doctor releases
the suspensory ligaments that attach the penis to the under surface of the
pubic bone. This allows access to the section of the penis hidden behind
the skin wall. He is then able to extend the length of the penis in
proportion to the length of the internal portion.

In this procedure, no actual length is created, rather, the internal
portion of the penis is "advanced" or "externalized," exposing greater
length. Actually, another 3-4" of the penis is located INSIDE the body.

This penile root actually arches upward inside the body and by resecting
the suspensory ligaments, this upward arch is extended forward. A simple
1" curvilinear incision in the pubic area is all that is required to gain
access to the ligaments. For overweight men, removal of some of the fat
in the pubic area will also add to the perceived length increase of the
penis. Some men may get no length gain at all in the erect state and may
even lose a bit of length due to scar tissue formation and retraction.

The enlargement procedure involves a transfer of fat cells. The patient's
own fat cells are used for augmentation because they do not run the risk
of rejection of the body. The result is a penis of the same shape and
length but greater in circumference. Because the penile shaft is narrower
than the maximum diameter of the head, the doctor usually fills out the
shaft slightly beyond the head's maximum diameter to maintain proper
proportion.

In each procedure, increases occur in both the flaccid and erect state
although length gain in the flaccid state is generally greater.

Some Before & After Photo Of Penis Enlargement Surgery Patients:

Patient had penis girth enlargement and lengthening surgery on 06/03.
Post-operative photo taken on 01/07.

Patient had penis girth enlargement and lengthening surgery on 10/02.
Post-operative photo taken on 10/04.

What to Expect After Your Penis Enlargement Surgery

After your procedure you'll be taken to the Recovery Room where nurses
will monitor your vital signs and attend to you until you are ready to
leave (usually in an hour or so). You will have to rest until the next
morning. The next morning you must return to hospital or clinic where
the surgery was done, where you will be examined by the doctor and your
bandage dressing will be changed.

You will have to wear a foam dressing for 8 days. Showering is permitted
only with Saran Wrap covering the incision and the foam dressing. This
allows the bandages to remain dry and intact. When the dressing is
removed after 8 days you will have to wear a sleeve at night for 1 month
following surgery.

On the day after the surgery, you will have to begin stretching the head
of the penis for 10 to 15 seconds at a time every 2 hours.

On the fifth day after surgery, you will begin stretching the head of the
penis for 3 to 4 minutes at a time every 2 hours. You must do this for
3 - 4 months.

You will have to continue taking your antibiotics and medication for pain
as prescribed for about 2 weeks. As you will experience discomfort/pain
upon erection for a few days. Some bruising and swelling may also be
noticed for several weeks. You will also have to take Vitamin E - 400 i.u.
each twice a day for one month following surgery.

You will not be able to engage in any strenuous activity, heavy lifting
or high impact aerobics for 4 weeks from the day of your surgery. Before
resuming your exercise routine, you must consult your doctor.

Sexual activity: You may resume sexual intercourse in six (6) weeks.

ANSWERS TO SOME COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. HOW MUCH AND FOR HOW LONG WILL THE FAT SURVIVE?
A. This varies from person to person, but usually at least 70% to 80% of
the injected fat survives long term. There is reason to assume this
enlargement will be permanent. The best part is that this is your own
tissue and the process may be repeated in the future (if needed) at an
additional cost. Two fat cell transfers are now being recommended to be
done - 3 months apart.

Q. ARE THERE ANY GUARANTEES?
A. No. Unfortunately, no one can predict the amount of the fat survival
in the fat transfer procedure or the length gain.

Q. WHAT CAN I DO AS A PATIENT TO HELP THE RESULTS?
Everyone should realize that for the best results a full COMMITMENT to
the program for four to six months is necessary. Sad to say, those who
don't follow instructions can compromise the results.

In choosing to undergo elective Cosmetic Penile Enhancement Surgery, you
must realize that a full four to six month (and possibly even more)
commitment to the staged surgery and postoperative process is necessary
for the best results.

Q. HOW MUCH LARGER CAN I BE?
A. This varies in every patient, however, an increase in diameter (girth)
of 50% is the usual goal.

Q. WHY IS WIDTH MORE IMPORTANT THAN LENGTH?
A. During sexual intercourse an excessively long penis can be painful to
a woman. However, with an increased girth, the increased sensation along
the vaginal walls increases the pleasure of the partner, since the sensory
nerves are more concentrated in the lower end and sides of the vagina.

Q. HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED OFF WORK AND WHY MUST I WEAR A BANDAGE?
A. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and most patients
can return to work the following day. However one week is recommended.

Q. WHEN CAN I RETURN TO SEXUAL ACTIVITY?
A. Sex may be resumed 4-6 weeks after lengthening and/or girth enlargement.
However, it takes three to six months to achieve maximum erection length.
Most importantly, the use of a Penis Extender stretching device
post-operatively is essential.

Q. WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO HAVE CHILDREN?
A. Yes. If you were able to have children prior to having surgery you
will be able to have children after. This surgery does not interfere with
the ability to have children.

Q. HOW MUCH PAIN IS INVOLVED?
A. Most patients find the post operative course quite tolerable. There is
pain in the penis and most patients complain of discomfort rather than pain,
which is controlled with pain pills.

Q. IS THERE ANY LOSS OF FEELING AND HOW DOES THE PENIS FEEL
WHEN IT IS ERECT?

A. There has been no reported loss of sensation from the procedure. When
erect, the penis remains firm with a thick cape of fatty tissue surrounding
it. Unfortunately in some patients, the fat can form small nodules or cysts
that will require additional surgery.

Q. WHAT IS COST OF PENIS ENLARGEMENT SURGERY?
Q. Costs for this type of surgery, be it penile lengthening, widening or
enhancement, ranges from $4000 to $5000 dollars and up to $17000.

Q. ARE THERE ANY LONG TERM ILL SIDE EFFECTS?
A. Presently, there are no minimal long term ill side effects related to
the fat transfer procedure or the lengthening.

If the procedure is not done correctly, it leaves cysts or nodules, or
"lumpy-looking," distorted penises with unsightly visible scars which were
difficult to correct. Additionally with the Dermal Fat Graft method the
penis may become twisted, shortened, become infected and have ultimately
cause permanent loss in penile length. Unsightly large painful donor site
scars have also occurred. You only get one chance at a good result.

During any surgical technique things can go wrong. These include:

Post operative infections

Damage to surrounding tissue and nerves

Side effects of an anesthesia

The media is full of 'penis enlargement surgery gone wrong' stories:

"Surgeons at St Peter's Andrology Centre in London quizzed 42 men who
underwent operations, the European Urology journal reported. The average
increase was 1.3cms (0.5in), but two thirds said they were unhappy with
the results." Click to read full article

"He said he had passed out with shock after seeing his penis following
the operation in Manchester. The 47-year-old patient, referred to as
Mr A throughout, said it was black, shorter and deformed, adding: "I
was in severe pain"." Click to read full article

But Lennon could not position his penis downward. He said he could no
longer hug people, ride a bike, swim or wear bathing trunks because of
the pain and embarrassment. He has become a recluse and is uncomfortable
being around his grandchildren, his lawyer said." Click to read full

The Bottom Line
Would you pay $10,000 in an attempt to impress the boys in the locker
room or the ladies in the bedroom - with dubious results? That's the
average cost of penis enlargement surgery to increase the size of the
penis.

Those wanting to do it more cheaply could choose from a range of
products which manufacturers claim will increase penis size.

Our Conclusion: Why even consider surgery when you haven't tried
the known to be helpful programs on offer? Surgery is very very painful
and no doctor will guarantee success. Your penis could even end up
looking mis-shaped, deformed or infected. The main problems with surgery
are: the cost, painful, no guarantee of results, horrible scaring, possibly
could reduce the size and could lead to a complete loss of sex drive.

We DO NOT recommend surgery unless your life depended upon
it.
So, if not Surgery, then what?
